The Nashville Scene’s “Best of Nashville 2009” issue is on the stands this week, and two of our favorite vendors are included: Olive & Sinclair Chocolate Company and Partners Tea Company.  Both are local start-ups by young, enterprising Nashvillians (Scott Witherow makes the artisan chocolate; Sarah Scarborough and Jodi Banks import the fair trade tea).

Arrangement for Whitland Home Tour

The first was about Olive & Sinclair Chocolate Co., the new artisan “bean-to-bar” chocolate maker in East Nashville.  We’re proud to be the first store in West Nashville to carry this delicious brand.  Thanks to Carrington Fox, food writer at the Nashville Scene, for including us.

Second was a write-up on the local blogsite, Style Blueprint, about our floral designer, Jessica Gainey.  She did the arrangements for Elizabeth Fox’s residence on the Whitland Home Tour this past weekend.

A few days ago, I had a nice visit with Scott Witherow, owner of Olive & Sinclair Chocolate Company, a brand new artisan chocolate maker in East Nashville.  We ordered two cases of 67% Dark on the spot, which should arrive in about two weeks.  I have a few bars for tasting so stop by if you’re in Green Hills.  Here’s some interesting info from the back of one of their bars:

“So what is Southern Artisan Chocolate?  Hand-crafted by native Nashvillians in the heart of Music City, Olive & Sinclair is proud to be the original ‘bean-to-bar’ chocolate maker of the south.  Slow roasted and stone ground in small batches, select single origin beans are combined with pure brown sugar for a smooth and robust flavor that’s unique to Southern Artisan Chocolate.  Our combination of traditional methods, modern European technique, and classic southern flavors make Olive & Sinclair the new, old-fashioned chocolate.”  Yum!
